Gab&#8217;s sowas wirklich? Im Bielefelder Stadt\u00adbild war ein Name sehr pr\u00e4sent, der genau das verk\u00f6rpert: Nikolaus D\u00fcrkopp (1842 \u2013 1918). Er gilt bis heute als bedeutender Unternehmer der Stadt. Und das, obwohl er in seiner Jugend ohne regelm\u00e4\u00dfige Schul\u00adbildung aufwuchs und weder lesen noch schreiben konnte. D\u00fcrkopp arbeitete zun\u00e4chst als Handwerker, bevor er sein Interesse f\u00fcr neuartige N\u00e4hmaschinen entdeckte.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow Schmidt\u201c, die Vorg\u00e4ngerfirma der heutigen \u201eD\u00fcrkopp Adler GmbH\u201c, die noch heute <a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress-bonus.p155702.webspaceconfig.de\/index.php\/industrialisierung\/waeschefabrik\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"152\">N\u00e4hmaschinen<\/a> herstellt und somit seit dem 19. Jahrhundert die Industrie Bielefelds pr\u00e4gt. Neben N\u00e4hmaschinen stellte die Firma ebenfalls Fahrr\u00e4der her, die einen wichtigen Beitrag zu <a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress-bonus.p155702.webspaceconfig.de\/index.php\/mobilitaet\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"125\">Mobilit\u00e4t<\/a> in Bielefeld leisteten. Die sogenannte \u201esoziale Mobilit\u00e4t\u201c f\u00fchrte dazu, dass es in seiner Zeit trotz der geringen Schulbildung und Herkunft die M\u00f6glichkeit des sozialen Aufstiegs gab. Dieser Aufstieg war allerdings nicht selbstverst\u00e4ndlich und verlangte D\u00fcrkopp einiges ab. Nach seiner handwerklichen Ausbildung in Detmold absolvierte er einige Jahre als Wandergeselle in Berlin, Hamburg und Bremen, ehe er sich in Bielefeld niederlie\u00df. Hier war er zun\u00e4chst in verschiedenen Unternehmen t\u00e4tig und gr\u00fcndete sp\u00e4ter auch seine Firma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die Geschichte von Nikolaus D\u00fcrkopp zeigt, dass Mobilit\u00e4t unterschiedliche Facetten haben kann. Sein sozialer Aufstieg war, wie gerade erkl\u00e4rt, ein Beispiel f\u00fcr soziale Mobilit\u00e4t, die mit regionaler Mobilit\u00e4t verkn\u00fcpft war.
